Is a Waxing Mania Organic Spray Tanning safe?
YES! Waxing Mania Organic Spray Tanning applies a sunless tanner directly to the top layer of your skin. Most sunless tanning products include an ingredient called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is the active “tanning” ingredient and is perfectly safe; it reacts with the naturally occurring amino acids and keratin proteins that are in the dead skin cells on the skin surface and produces a golden brown color on the skin. DHA is not absorbed into the body.
In 1973, the FDA approved the use of DHA and it has been used in the cosmetic industry for over 30 years. The product is made from glycerin (vegetable origin) and is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to color the skin.
Skin allergies or irritations resulting from DHA are extremely rare.
